Team Polti VisitMalta competes in the Tour de Hongrie

Tour de Hongrie (2.PRO)
From 14 to 18th may

While the Giro d’Italia faces the first week on Italian soil, another expedition of the team travels to Hungary for a symbolic and fundamental appointment in the calendar. The Tour of Hongrie, the land of the sponsor Kometa, once again offers five stages that will be the target for the Team Polti VisitMalta riders.

The competitors will have at least two clear sprint options on the first days, which will also be the longest stages of the race, while they will face on the third day the high finish of Gyöngyös-Kékestető, which should mark the general classification with its more than 15 kilometres of climb and ramps above 8%. The final two days are still to come, with circuits and steep climbs in the decisive zone, where there will be a spectacle and a fight for the partial victory as well as for seconds in the general classification.

The Team Polti VisitMalta squad will be led by the Spanish sprinter Manuel Peñalver in the mass finishes, while the mountain days and the fight for the general classification will be led by Fernando Tercero, perfectly accompanied by the Colombian Germán Gómez. Two youngsters like Gabriele Raccagni and Ludovico Crescioli will become the best options for the breakaways and to collaborate in the interests of the team-mates, while the road captain and an interesting option after showing a good form in Turkey will be Diego Pablo Sevilla.

Diego Sevilla explains the importance of this Tour de Hongrie: ‘Kometa is a very important sponsor, and it is symbolic and exciting for us to compete in Hungary. We have a complete, balanced and high level squad to be present in each stage of the race’.

Giovanni Ellena, sports director: ‘It will be a race with a high level of participation, but we have an exciting group of riders focused on the sprints with Peñalver and Tercero for the general classification. We will be looking for the best result, to shine in the race, and above all to give a good image in the land of our sponsor Kometa’.
