On stage 2 of the Giro, Piganzoli confirms his improvements in time trials

Team Polti VisitMalta tackled the first ITT of this Giro d’Italia through the streets of the Albanian capital: Davide Piganzoli averaged nearly 49 km/h and finished 38th, just 42 seconds behind winner Tarling (Ineos) ahead of top-level rivals like Bernal and Bardet. He’s now 18th overall, 40 seconds behind the new maglia rosa Roglic.
Piganzoli: “Considering that the mid-stage climb didn’t suit my characteristics much, I think it was a good time trial. Today it was important to show up because the GC started to take shape, tomorrow we go back to a road stage to close this great start to the Giro.”
Sports Director Stefano Zanatta: “The guys fully lived up to expectations. Our GC man confirmed his improvements in ITT and showed he has the legs to fight every day.”
