Trofeo Víctor Cabedo seeks redemption for Team Polti VisitMalta U19

Two weekends with complicated weather conditions and without finding the results. The Alberto Contador Foundation U19 team now faces the first block of races of the Trofeo Victor Cabedo, with the race in Càlig and the time trial in Les Alqueries.
A competition established in the calendar and where historically the Polti VisitMalta has achieved great results. Now, the pupils of Isaac Cantón will try to maintain that drift and to turn the great work in race into good positions in the finish line, the pending subject in this beginning of the season.
The race in Càlig is 98 kilometres long, with five laps of the 20-kilometre circuit and several scoring passes over the Alto Cerdos, on the second, third and fourth occasions. In total, almost 1,200 metres of accumulated elevation gain. For the time trial in Les Alqueries, 4.9 kilometres will be mainly flat for true specialists who can impose their power.

The squad is made up of Gonçalo Rodrigues, Jaume Barceló, Matteo Compagnoni, Iván Estévez, Ricardo Giner, Óscar Orts, Leo Ucher and Aitor Martínez. Riders with different aptitudes and who will fight or lend their service in the different moments of the race in which they can contribute to the objectives of the Team Polti VisitMalta.
Isaac Cantón, sports director: ‘One more year we return to the Trofeo Cabedo with the same desire to do a great race and above all a good general classification. We have an individual time trial that will mark the strongest riders. The team is working well, but we have to be very concentrated in the final part of the race to be able to reward all the work we have been doing all year’.
