The Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros, new challenge for the Polti VisitMalta U19 team

Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros
From 2nd to 4th may

Three days of cycling in the western part of Cantabria await the Fundación Alberto Contador U19 team, after successfully competing in two Cantabrian classics last week.

The typical up and down route of Cantabria will be marked by a probable sprint finish on the first day, the high finish in Laflorida with two previous climbs to Tejo in the second stage and the longest day on Sunday with 104 kilometres and two climbs in the central part, before the finish in San Vicente de la Barquera.

Aitor Martínez, Iván Estévez, Ricardo Giner, Jaume Barceló, Javier Muñoz and Anxo Delgado are the riders who will compete in this Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros. A balanced block, with climbers and also with fast riders to look for options in group finishes.

Isaac Cantón, sports director: ‘We face a tough race, with a high level of participation in terms of teams, and a terrain for climbers. We will have a high finish in the second stage, which will probably be decisive, and we will fight to win the general classification. Jaume Barceló is in good form, and Aitor Martínez and Iván Estévez will also give us a lot to play with, due to their climbing profile. All of them have a good chance to compete in the race’.

Stage 1: Unquera – Unquera (94km)
Stage 2: Treceño – Alto de Laflorida (86km)
Stage 3: San Vicente de la Barquera – San Vicente de la Barquera (104km)
