Team Polti VisitMalta welcomes Orlando Maini as a sports director

Team Polti VisitMalta sports directors’ group expands: alongside Stefano Zanatta, Jesús Hernández and Giovanni Ellena, Orlando Maini joins the team!

As a rider in the 1980s, he won a stage at both the Vuelta and the Giro and was a loyal domestique for a champion like Fondriest. He has been active as a sports director for over thirty years, leading riders of the caliber of Pantani, Scarponi, Petacchi, Pozzato, Nibali, Ulissi. While he never directed Ivan Basso, the two have always shared great mutual respect and today they find themselves working in the same team. “I sincerely thank the management and my colleagues for making this possible,” says Maini. “I’m honored to have been called to work with such an interesting squad. Throughout my career, I’ve spent a lot of time developing young talents who have given me great satisfaction: here at Polti VisitMalta I see an ideal environment for that.”
