Team Polti VisitMalta U19 shines in Torre del Bierzo
The youth team of the Alberto Contador Foundation got the second position with Gonçalo Rodrigues in the Memorial Emilio Fernández in Torre del Bierzo, where it was the best squad. In the UCI event in La Canonja, Aitor Martínez made it into the top-10, while Iván Estévez was proclaimed runner-up in the Castilla y León time trial.
A weekend of good results for Team Polti VisitMalta U19. In the race held in León, the team was present in the breakaway with Ricardo Giner, and once neutralized that break, took the commands of the group to prevent the counterattacks from giving the surprise. Gonçalo Rodrigues made his move on the last climb. Finally, the Portuguese rider was able to take second place in the sprint in a great joint performance that also allowed him to climb the podium as the best team of the race.
On the other hand, another block competed in the Trofeu 15 d’Abril in La Canonja, a UCI race in which the breakaway triumphed but the team keep their goals. Thanks to being able to hold on in the main group with two riders, Aitor Martínez could be 7th and add a top-10 of quality against a high competitive level. Nacho Sánchez also finished in that group, confirming his recovery.
On Sunday, in the Castilla y León Time Trial Championship, Iván Estévez signed the second best time just a few seconds behind the winner, climbing the podium and just one step away from winning the autonomic title of the discipline.
The Team Polti VisitMalta is racing without rest from this Thursday the Tour of Loulé in Portugal, a race in which he hopes to continue adding good results.
