Giovanni Lonardi

The 1996-born sprinter from the Valpolicella was the protagonist of 2022 first victory for the then Eolo Kometa, during his team debut in Valencia. That marked his fifth career win, while the sixth came in 2024 during the third stage of the Tour of Turkey in late April. A milestone moment for him, however, was the opening sprint of the 2018 Giro U23, when, wearing the Zalf jersey, he defeated Jasper Philipsen in Forlì. Looking back at last season, it was Lonardi’s best ever: before the Turkish victory, he secured the points classification in Piganzoli’s Tour of Antalya, afterward he achieved a series of top-10 finishes, including the first Giro d’Italia podium of his career. “I’ve felt at home here from the start, I’ve loved the team’s approach to work from day one and I’ve built a fantastic relationship with my teammates and all the staff. I’m thrilled to continue my journey with Team Polti VisitMalta and hope to grab more victories!” In his free time, he enjoys helping his family with farm work, as well as watching winter sports and tennis on TV. The corner of the world that captured his heart is La Romana, in the Dominican Republic, a place where he had an unforgettable vacation.
