Piganzoli, with the best in the Clàssica CV
The race that closed the first triptych of competition for the Team Polti VisitMalta gave again a top-10, in this case thanks to Davide Piganzoli who responded in his terrain, the mountains, and sought to surprise against top level rivals.
Team Polti VisitMalta waited for the final part of the Clàssica CV, the chain of climbs to Rates and Turrón Duro, to look for leading positions in the group and try to break the race. Piganzoli, Crescioli and Serrano were the most active, with Piga himself managing to ride in a second group of favourites and fight for the places of honour at the finish in La Nucía. In the end, he was 10th.
Davide Piganzoli: “We did a good job, we started the last climb, which was hard, well placed and with a good feeling, crowning among the best. The legs are good, we played for the place at the finish in a reduced sprint. The performance was good”.
Giovanni Ellena, directeur sportif: “I think the team rode very, very well today. Piga has been among the best, showing that he has a good condition beyond the exact place at the finish. Crescioli continues to show his quality and for me the most positive note is to see Serrano who tried to anticipate also on a terrain that was not the best for him”.
Team Polti VisitMalta will compete again in just over a week, in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, from 5 to 9 February.
