Óscar Orts finishes in the top-10 of Circuito del Guadiana

Team Polti VisitMalta U19 started the season and the Spanish Cup with a ninth place for Óscar Orts in the Circuito del Guadiana. The race, neutralised on the last lap due to a fall, was launched with 30 kilometres to go and the peloton could not fight for a victory that Novolodskii (PC Baix Ebre) took from the breakaway.
Mixed feelings after the debut, with a good team level and attitude, but with a result that did not quite live up to expectations. The race was run at a high speed, with alternatives and with the Alto de Magacela as a judge in each of the three laps.
‘The positive surprise has been for some first-year riders like Aitor Martínez, who have been with the best in the hardest part. But this debut has left us with a list of tasks to improve. The first race of the year is always difficult and now we have to look ahead to the rest of the objectives’, explains sports director Isaac Cantón.
The Team Polti VisitMalta faces next weekend the Challenge Costa Blanca, of UCI category, with a time trial and an one stage that will continue measuring the form of the team.
