Nil Aguilera, very present in the development of the first mountain stage in l’Ain

Ain Bugey Valromey Tour 2022
Stage 4: Izernore – Injoux-Genissiat (93,8 km)

Frenchman Paul Magnier, protagonist of an offensive move in the final part of a breakaway of four riders, won the first mountain stage of the French race on Saturday. Nil Aguilera had a great performance and finished seventeenth, arriving in the chasing group. Four climbs marked this fraction, with the Col de Richemont crowning in the last twenty kilometres.

“It was a tough stage from the start. We were crowning the climbs in front and at the end, facing the sprint, we had to suffer. There was a breakaway of four riders and then a group of thirteen riders 20″ seconds behind”, he explained. This Sunday, the fifth and final stage, the queen day of the French race. Emil Herzog (Team Auto Eder) retains the leader’s yellow jersey. Aguilera is 27th, over seven minutes behind.
