First international race in Portugal for Team Polti VisitMalta U19

The team travels to Portugal to compete in the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé, an event that reaches 30 editions and where the Polti VisitMalta U19 is aiming for the overall victory.
The good results of last weekend, the holiday period for Easter and the great attitude of the team augur good news for the team in Portugal. The Volta a Loulé, with three days, calls the Iberian peloton with the best teams and a high level of participation. The opening stage on Thursday, with 73 kilometres, is expected to be a sprint finish, the second stage will be a 10-kilometre time trial, while the queen stage on Friday afternoon includes three climbs with the finish at Alto de Malhao, almost 3 kilometres above 9% gradient. Last stage on Saturday covers 110 kilometres on a hilly terrain around Loulé.
According to the route, and as a local rider, the Portuguese Gonçalo Rodrigues will be the reference of the Team Polti VisitMalta U19 looking for the overall classification. At his side, a cyclist who is still growing as Aitor Martínez and who can also have his chances. Leo Ucher, Fran Moscoso, Adrián Martinez and Ricardo Giner complete the squad, the latter with a good chance in the time trial.
Isaac Cantón, sports director: “We have just finished on the podium with Gonçalo in Torre del Bierzo, and we want to keep those good feelings. We are going to play the general classification with him, he is racing at home and he is in a great moment of form. I also have a lot of confidence in Aitor Martínez, who is learning very fast and needs to keep gaining experience. The team around them is still one of the strongest on the start line and I’m sure we can take advantage with a good result”.
