Arnau Gilabert recovers from a collarbone fracture

Although the first diagnosis already suggested the existence of a small fracture, the last radiological tests have confirmed the injury that will keep Arnau Gilabert out of the roads for a couple of weeks. The rider from Barcelona suffers a fracture in his right collarbone that took place during the second stage of the last edition of the Vuelta a Madrid from which he is already recovering.

“Obviously nobody likes to suffer crashes or break a bone, but you have to be positive and see the good side of these things and in the end it happened at a time of the season when I was going to have a small competitive break. After the Vuelta a Madrid, after the Giro del Valle de Aosta, I had scheduled a cycle without much activity, of active recovery, and in that sense this fracture does not upset many plans. It’s not that it was a good thing, but it would have been worse at the beginning of the year or in the middle of the season before important objectives”, reflects Arnau.

The Catalan added: “I had four days of total rest, until I underwent new tests, and now I’ve started to do a bit of rolling, go for a walk in good company,… to keep active. I hope that there won’t be any complications and that I can be available for the end of August. In the end it was a very clean fracture, which was not complete, and the doctors told me it would take fifteen or twenty days. I don’t think that in these circumstances I’m going to lose too much fitness”.
