Great victory of Team Polti VisitMalta in the second stage of the Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros

Great success in the second day and queen stage of the Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros, with the team completing a great performance that allowed them to control the stage, win with Aitor Martínez and leader of the race, in addition to getting the second position with Jaume Barceló. But the final stage of the race was not so favorable, and they were out of the final podium.
Satisfaction for the good work and regret for not being able to mantain the jersey in the final day. Team Polti VisitMalta leaves the Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros with contradictory sensations, where they demonstrated their level as a team and their fighting capacity, which was rewarded in the second stage.
The first day already showed the good moment of Aitor Martínez (5th) and Jaume Barceló (13th), practically in the times of the winner and first leader Verbrugge (Acrog Tormans). It was the second day where Team Polti VisitMalta took the reins of the race and dynamited the race on the climb to Laflorida, where they unhooked the leader and got the win and second place with Aitor Martinez and Jaume Barcelo. In addition, the Catalan got the leader jersey too.
The final stage, however, showed a different day in which the team defended but the forces began to fail in the decisive section, with Aitor Martinez himself trying to defend himself in the first person, but giving in to the adversaries. Finally, Jaume Barceló was the best, finishing 6th in the final overall classification.
Isaac Cantón, sport director: “There are days when everything goes well, and that’s why the second stage of Vuelta a los Valles Cántabros has been the demonstration that this team knows how to race, knows how to win and has some of the best riders in the category. But on the contrary, in the final stage everyone has raced to unseat us and despite a good defense, in the end Aitor has not been able to hold. It’s a pity because we deserved the victory, with the great attitude and above all showing the unity as a block. Let’s hope that new opportunities will come to continue showing our great level”.
