Two races in La Canonja and Torre del Bierzo for Team Polti VisitMalta U19

The youth team of the Alberto Contador Foundation disputes this Saturday the UCI race of La Canonja and the competition of Torre del Bierzo.
The level of demand rises for Team Polti VisitMalta U19, which will double this Saturday with two competitive fronts in which it will seek to continue showing its great competitive level, while reaping a good result at the finish line.
The Trofeu 15 d’Abril de La Canonja, an event that in recent seasons was part of the Spanish Cup, has now become a UCI race with international participation. There will be 131 kilometres with the Coll de La Teixeta and the Coll de La Batalla as mountainous difficulties in a demanding route.
The selected block is led by Leo Ucher and Aitor Martínez. Their combativeness, ability and speed make them ideal candidates to fight for the victory. They will be accompanied by the climber Nacho Sánchez and the sprinter Fran Moscoso, together with Adrián Martínez and Javier Muñoz.
Isaac Cantón will be the director of the Catalan event, and he predicts “a race that suits both Leo Ucher and Aitor Martínez. They are in a good condition to compete in the race, with the double motivation of racing at home. Nacho Sánchez has recovered from the fall in Montemayor, and we will have first year riders that I like the way they are doing like Fran Moscoso, Javier Muñoz or Adrián Martínez. We have a very complete team and we want to continue to do well”.

On the other hand, in Torre del Bierzo (León) the Castilla y León junior championship will be held. It will be 94.2 kilometres with four laps of a circuit in which San Andrés will be climbed in the final part to select the race. The reference of the team will be the Portuguese Gonçalo Rodrigues, accompanied by Anxo Delgado, Ricardo Giner, Iván Estévez, Jorge Torrijos and Matteo Compagnoni.
It will be Rafa Díaz Justo‘s debut in the sporting direction of the junior team. The coach from La Mancha analyses the route: “It is a demanding area because of the up and down, although the race will be selected at the San Andrés KOM, 12km from the finish line. It will probably be a cold day, which contrasts and can be difficult for the riders who are starting to get used to the heat. Otherwise, I am confident in Gonçalo’s chances and we will fight to win with him”.
Besides, the Valencian Óscar Orts will compete this Sunday in Paris Roubaix with the Spanish national team, called up for this race and looking for experience in the cobblestones of the north of France.
