El Team Polti VisitMalta U19 debuts on Circuito del Guadiana

The competition for the Alberto Contador Foundation U19 team is underway. The first round of the Spanish Cup will also be the first date for a team that finished its training camp a week ago and hopes to start a promising season in style at the Guadiana Circuit in Don Benito (Extremadura).
“The team is looking forward to its debut, we have a practically new squad, eager to work and do things well in the race,” explains Isaac Cantón, sports director of the Polti VisitMalta U19 Team. The coach is aware of the leap in quality of a squad that is looking to form talent for the ProTeam, and with the internationalisation that the U19 team faces in terms of the calendar.
There will be 3 laps of the usual circuit with the climbs to Magacela. In total, 120 kilometres where the difficulty of the climb, with just 1 kilometre but with an average of over 10% and slopes that reach 18%, will mark an inevitable selection. The wind that usually blows in this race, with an evening schedule, will also condition the final winner in the streets of Don Benito.
“The Guadiana Circuit is not an easy race, since it is the first Cup of the year and there are always nerves,” adds Cantón. “We have a strong team for this type of race, we cannot relax because the Spanish Cup is an objective and we have to be very consistent to be able to be in the fight.”
The block called up for this competition is made up of the fastest and most powerful cyclists of the Team Polti VisitMalta U19. On the starting line will be the Portuguese Gonçalo Rodrigues, the Italian Matteo Compagnoni and together with them the Spaniards Jaume Barceló, Oscar Orts, Leo Ucher, Aitor Martínez and the fast Fran Moscoso. The race situation and the sensations in this debut will determine the leaders and contenders to fight for victory.
